Drumming on the Tor

"The sound of the heartbeat of Mother Earth is the first music that any of us ever heard - the heartbeat of our mother before birth.

To give birth to a sacred drum is a most sacred event. A sacred drum, after its initiation, indeed has a life and a voice of its own and becomes a great bridge between you and your world of spirit."

The spiritual core of Jana’s drumming circles is in understanding our ancestral roots and our relationship to the Earth, the Sun and Great Mystery. This is the rhythm, the Primal Pulse, the Universal Heartbeat, the true Mother Tongue that unites us all.

Where people gather to drum, they gather to heal and facilitate an awakening to a powerful light within. Drumming wakes up something inside, a palpable energy, a life force deep within the cells of our being that releases the memories and a knowing that drumming is good medicine!

"In the ancient Egyptian language, "ear" and "mind" are synonymous, an acknowledgement that th mind gives meaning to information received as sound vibrations. All music, whether in the temple, the palace, or the street, was termed "hy", which was defined as 'joy' or 'gladness'. The symbol for joy was a woman playing a round frame drum."
(Layne Redmond - "When Women were Drummers")
